The message Storage Almost Full always appears at the wrong time. You can usually get space back without deleting memories.

Step 1: See what uses space

Open the storage section in your settings. It lists apps and media by size. Start with the biggest.

Step 2: Back up photos and videos

Videos take huge space. Back up to the cloud or a computer, confirm the backup works, and then remove local copies using the built-in free up space option.

Step 3: Clear app caches and downloads

  • Social and streaming apps can store gigabytes of cached data.
  • Delete offline downloads you have already watched.
  • Clear browser data you do not need.

Step 4: Remove unused apps

Uninstall apps you have not opened in months. Some phones offer to offload an app but keep its data, so you can reinstall later.

Step 5: Manage messaging media

Chat apps save photos, videos and voice notes. Review large files in the storage manager of each app and delete the old ones.

Step 6: Streaming instead of downloading

Stream music and video when you have a good connection rather than keeping everything offline.

Prevent the problem

Enable automatic cleanup features, check storage monthly and consider a phone with more capacity next time. A little maintenance keeps your phone fast and ready for new photos.
